THE GREAT COLOSSUS OF RHODES

In ancient times, there is an existing ancient, the name is The Colossus Of Rhodes. This colossus was made near the Rhodes harbor,precisely on a Mediterranean island, Aegean sea territory, Greece. The colossus was made to celebrate the independence day of Rhodes territory. Once upon a time, there’s a war between the Rhodes and The Antagonids, The Rhodes won the war and then they sell their War Equipment, So they built the Colossus. The colossus was made to entertain the God Helios. This colossus was made by Chares, An experienced Sculptor for about 12 years. The statue’s height reaches 120 feet.Even the thumb of the statue is same as adult’s arm. The body of Colossus of Rhodes statue is made of bronze, while the base is made of white marble. Unfortunately, this colossus only lasted for about 56 years. An earthquake destroyed this colossus and a large chunk of this colossus just lying around the Rhodes harbor. Although the colossus was destroyed, it keeps attracting an attention and admiration because it structures that really great. Since the colossus had already collapsed, no one knows how the sculpture of the colossus actually is. Some people said that the colossus of Rhodes stood in the entrance to the harbor, so the ships could run across both legs. But there’s some people who said the colossus was made with the left arm holding a Torch. The king of Egypt had offered to rebuild the statue, but the Rhodes people refused it, they’re afraid if it just makes angry the god of Helios. They are afraid if the statue is standing again, the God Helios will send them an earthquake.There’s an amazing fact about the colossus. An Arabian people said that if somebody break the colossus into a small piece, it needs 900 camels to bring the chunk. And you know what? Although the colossus had already collapsed, the statue inspired a French sculptor, Auguste Bartholdi to make the Statue of Liberty in New York. Although the colossus had already disappeared, The statue will be a great world’s ancient forever.
